Admissions RequirementsThe staff members at Colonial Christian School view education primarily
as a task of edification. In other words, the school exists to aid students who are committed to the Lord, as they move forward in their spiritual and academic development. Because the thrust is one of edifying or building up believers, students who are unsaved, unchurched, and spiritually unaligned would find themselves out-of-step and out-of-place if they were enrolled. In admitting students, Colonial Christian School is seeking students who are saved, committed to the Lord, and faithful to the local church (Amos 3:3). These principles are specified in the general guidelines that follow. 1. Colonial Christian School exists primarily for the edification of the faithful families of Colonial Hills Baptist Church and like-minded ministries. We desire that Colonial Christian School students and families maintain a unity of mind and spirit regarding doctrine, philosophy, and standards for worship. While CCS maintains open enrollment in the lower elementary grades to all families who are willing to adhere to the school guidelines, the school will give greater consideration to church affiliation as the grade levels increase. In the junior and senior high school, the Admissions Committee very carefully considers the doctrinal statements, philosophy, and standards of worship of other churches to insure that they are of like mind. Students continuing into seventh grade and new junior high/senior high enrollees will need to meet this requirement. 2. The parent/s should demonstrate their love for the Lord, commitment to spiritual growth, and desire to train their children by faithfully attending Colonial Hills Baptist Church or a likeminded ministry (like faith and practice). Colonial Christian School admits and retains only students who, along with their parents, faithfully attend their local church services. 3. Colonial Christian School may consider for admission secondary students who have accepted Christ as Savior, have the support of their parents, are living a life demonstrating commitment to the Lord, and have demonstrated themselves to be faithful to the services of Colonial Hills Baptist Church or like-minded ministries, regardless of their family's attendance. Should admission be granted, the student must continue to demonstrate faithful church attendance. 4. Colonial Christian School only admits a student who transfers from the former school in good standing. The school is not designed to meet the special needs of students with unusual behavior, spiritual, academic, social, or physical problems. In evaluating a potential student, admission testing and interviews are customarily required. 5. While not tied to re-enrollment Colonial Christian School requires that each applicant in grades 4 and above to indicate that he/she desires to be in attendance. In addition, students must willingly sign the Statement of Faith and Standards of Conduct agreement. Students must indicate this desire each year by reviewing and signing the reenrollment agreement. At Colonial Christian School we seek to set and maintain standards for student conduct, dress, philosophy of life, procedures, and scholarship that honor the Lord and demonstrate a spirit of excellence. 6. Colonial Christian School admits students in good standing who are transferring from other Christian or private schools only after their former school bill has been paid in full. 7. Colonial Christian School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, and national or ethnic origin. We desire for Colonial Christian School to be a joyful place for children. Children should want to learn. There must be both a spiritual and academic challenge to the program, but students must also enjoy their time on the campus. They must realize that this kind of preparation is vital to their service to God and their personal joy in this life. The administration and staff are dedicated to providing a very high quality of both spiritual and academic education. This is our service. |
